Fugu is back, and this time we’ve cut it with Riwaka hops.
For those unfamiliar, Fugu is a refreshing, ultra-light-bodied beer made with the finest lager malts and rice flakes. We’ve updated the recipe by adding Riwaka hops in the whirlpool. It’s the first time we’ve used this hop at Basqueland, and we wanted to feature it in a lager-style beer.
On the nose, Fugu releases pleasant earthy aromas accompanied by citrusy notes: yuzu, pink grapefruit, and kumquat. On the palate, a subtle tropical layer is perceived—dry, with a slightly bitter finish. Fugu requires a master touch.
